Tues June
21st Day 6 Bloomington, MN to Downer’s Grove, IL
We started with breakfast at the hotel. As we got ready to
load our car. A homeless man approached us and asked for a ride; what I didn’t
know was that he wanted a ride to the liquor store to get alcohol. Doryn and I
said no to this guy at least 5 times and he wouldn’t leave. Somehow we finally
got him to leave and we were on our way!
Driving through Wisconsin, we knew we had to get some
cheese, being that I’m allergic to cow dairy, I knew I wanted goat cheese so we
stopped at a specialty cheese store, off the freeway. The types of cheese were
wild from chicken soup cheese to strange baked cheese to goat cheese and cheese
shaped and colored like dinosaurs and animals and of course cheese from around
the world. This spot attracted us with their extra large cheese sign and an awesome
fun with the mouse out in front of the shop.

Sorry it's blurry! Animal colored and shaped cheese
Chicken Soup Cheese
Yes it's chocolate
When we left we were back on the road, driving through some
gorgeous scenery, lush land and sheep. It was nice to see other animals aside from
the hundreds of miles of cows we had seen thus far.
We finally arrived in Illinois, Downers Grove. We went out
for dinner at one of Doryn’s Favorite restaurants: Red Lobster. After we
stopped at a special half price book store and returned to the hotel. Today
wasn’t a hugely busy day, but we look forward to the busier days for sure. The
more stories the better!!
Tomorrow we drive to Warren Michigan to meet with one of our
clients, Victoria Madeline Wade
Wednesday
June 22nd, Day #7
Driving
from Downers Grove Il to Warren Michigan (316 Miles)
For once we slept in a little bit because we knew that we
only had a few hours to drive to get to Warren Michigan. As we started up the
car and asked On-Star for our route, they agent told us there was a shooting on
a side road off the freeway the night before. Luckily for us, this wasn’t in an
area of Michigan we’d be in. The drive
to Warren Michigan was nice. We went through a few toll roads and just as we
got a hang of them, they were done… for Illinois that is. Within 30 minutes of
leaving Downers Grove, we were in Indiana and then Michigan. The drive was
another breath taking view after view of hills and grass, trees galore, huge
homes on lots of land and some smaller towns.
White Castle! Doryn's first time!
I Made chicken, zuchinni, red, yellow orange peppers and mushrooms!
We drove through parts of the smaller towns and were amazed
at the size of the homes in these communities. …. Beautiful!! We drove over a gorgeous blue bridge, passes a
sign for the Bridge to Canada, saw a HUGE advertising tire on the side of the
freeway and saw something that made me excited: A spinning bag holder at
Ralph’s affiliate store: Kroger. It’s the simple things in life that make me
happy!! Once we arrived at the hotel, the plan was to cook dinner in our
electrical NuWave pan, so we headed for the store. We went to Kroger and
brought veggies, fruit and chicken for our dinner. We then swung by White
Castle, which Doryn had never experienced, we decided it would take a while
before we would eat and we needed something to tide us over. J I remember living in
NY as a kid and how much I loved going to White Castle, those are some great
memories!
When we got back to our room, I cooked us dinner: Chicken
with red, yellow and orange mini peppers, zucchini pasta, mushrooms, turmeric
and a little juice of orange. It was soo delicious! Healthy and delicious. I
ever recorded a video of me cooking to share with everyone. That will be shared
soon enough!
Now, the goal for today was to meet with cancer warrior and
friend Victoria M. unfortunately her treatments had a negative effect on her and
she had to go to the emergency room. Because of that we were unable to see her
tonight, but we hope before we leave to be able to see her. Please keep her in
your prayers.
Tomorrow we head to make a stop at Niagara Falls in Niagara
Falls, NY and then head to our hotel in Rochester, NY. 244.5 miles + 86.2mi = 330.7 (5.5 hrs)
