Day #24 –
Saturday July 9th Another FUN Day in
Tampa, FL
Woke up pretty early for me this morning: 9:30am. Had some
tea and got to writing to catch up on my blog. Doryn got
a little extra sleep this morning which I think he was excited about. June and
I spent time talking about the homes in her community and how the one across
from her was just sold for $310,000!!! A 3 bedroom, 2 bath home in a gated
community. OMG!
So, for today we are heading to the Suncoast Primate Sanctuary.
I can’t wait to experience this fun with miss fabulous JUNE! Onward! Doryn,
June and I headed out to the Sanctuary, which was about 20 minutes away. Funny
thing was that June’s lived in this area for 14 years and never knew this
wonderful place existed. We walked into the sanctuary, we received a bag of
food to feed the primates with and we walked around. The sanctuary had much
more than primates, they had goats, birds, iguanas and gators! Yes GATORS! We
walked around and checked out the primates, they were all so active and
enjoying their time interacting with all of us. I’ve been to the Feline
compound in Rosamond, CA and those wild cats were never as vibrant and active
as those primates!
We walked throughout the entire park and met many celebrity
and honorary primates – two cambucci monkeys that were therapy animals for
people who were quadriplegics and they helped them eat, open mail and do other
things. We checked out the Orangutan, the other types of monkeys, the goats,
the spider monkey and the beautiful Macaws. We had a blast especially when we
held the baby gator! They had a few gators in the back of the Sanctuary, they
weren’t full grown but they were 3 different sized ones. After our trip to the
sanctuary, we headed to the store to pick up a few things for dinner. We went
back to June’s house for lunch and a quick nap.
When it was dinner time, I cooked up a healthy feast! Organic
chicken with pecan oil, lemon and spices mixed with tomato and mushroom, paired
with asparagus and quinoa pasta. We also enjoyed salad with fresh slices pears.
Delish!
We had such a wonderful day with June and an even more so
fabulous evening. Tomorrow we get to sleep in and then head to Gainesville, FL
to stay with a couple that started a cancer organization that raises funds for
cancer patients in their community. We are totally looking forward to meeting
Dianne and Ron. 129.7 Miles
