Day #36 –
Thursday July 21st, 2016 – Our last day in Vegas!
Even though Doryn and I got up early, well somewhat early, we
got a late start. We were looking forward to spending some time with my best
friend Jessica. So here’s a little background on Jess: We went to High School
together, I graduated a year ahead of her but we were friends since we hung out
with the same friends. Over the years since high school we had lost touch and
somehow reconnected and it was like we were never apart. So, Jess loved what I
was doing with UCAAN and got involved and was helping me like my right hand
awesome helper for a while. But she had to move to Vegas over a year ago and
this was the first time I really got to spend time with her in a long time and
it was wonderful!!
So we waited to hear from Jess and we had everything planned.
She was awesome enough to drive instead of us Uber-ing again. First stop was
the Secret Garden at Mirage to visit Siegfried and Roy’s tigers and some
dolphins as well. This was more exciting and a bigger location than the shark
reef the day before and we were very impressed! First we checked out the
Dolphins, which were so graceful and beautiful. They are definitely amazing
creatures. Then we headed to visit the tigers. We saw a spotted leopard with a
gorgeous coat, a Siberian Tiger and some other beautiful tigers and wild cats.
Most of them were napping, until Doryn spotted an active one. We rushed over to
take photos and videos and watched the large white tiger walk towards an area
of water – he had the right idea as it was HOT out! In one fell swoop he jumped
on the ball in the water and played for a few minutes with it. After we visited
the cats we went to the underwater viewing area to check out the dolphins again
but from a different view. They were so active swimming around the large
underwater playground, swimming towards the window and swimming upside down as
if they were trying to show us all their underwater tricks. They were so much
fun and we got some great shots and videos of them. I’ve always loved dolphins
and wild animals since I was a kid, so this was a treat for me! Well for all of
us!!
After our adventure and long walk at the Secret Garden we
went to stop at Barnes and Noble and Hobby Lobby. Doryn jumped at the chance to
go to Barnes and Jessica and I headed to Hobby Lobby to find a sketch pad and
some stencils. Once we found what we needed we went to get Doryn and headed to
dinner at Sweet Tomatoes (Souplantation), one of Doryn and my favorite healthy
spots! We had a delicious and healthy meal and then headed back to the hotel. Because
our hotel pool closes early, we all went swimming, well kinda. The pool was a
little gross so we really spent most our time in the jaccuzzi, which wasn’t as
hot as it was outside.
We all had a wonderful day and evening and by the end of it
we were all tired, so we ended the night. It was so wonderful seeing Jessica,
having her meet Doryn and just all hanging out together!
